Thanks Jerry! I have to admit I was concerned that the changes might have lost a few readers along the way but with forwarding my old blog to the new one and setting up these links so they ’should’ match the old ones I was hoping to catch as many old links just incase they don’t get updated by whoever created them.

My next job is to go over all my old entries and update my links etc. to make sure they are all still working. I’ve noticed a few dead ones already. Then after that I was thinking about digging about on the web for any trackbacks and notifying the site/blog owners of the change so they can choose to update their links too.

It’s a big job but ultimately worth it. I’m just glad I’m doing it now rather than in a few months time when links are more prolific and posts more numerous.

Congratulations, Rebecca. I did the same thing a few months ago. You’re on my RSS reader (I use My Yahoo) so I got the message right away. Who would have thought we would have to do so much web technology to keep in touch with readers.

Let me know if there is anything you need help with learning on the ‘tech savvy’ front. I’m happy to share knowledge and help out if I can. Porting the old blog to the new one was a much bigger experience then I’d originally planned but the features of Wordpress and the additional control it offers makes the few days turmoil worth it. This is the sort of work I really love (along with writing) too. I wish I got more commission work that involved web aspects.
