Prepare Yourself For Change!

13 January 2008 14 views 8 Comments

Are you ready? Are you excited?

As some of you may already know, I’ve been working on a whole new look for The Writer’s Round-About. My two weeks of tweaking is finally over and I’m ready to release the new version. BE PREPARED!

Version 2 Of The Writers Round-AboutObviously, as I update the site we’re going to experience a few changes, who knows, I might even crash the place completely. Unfortunately it’s not just a case of dropping new content [here] and clicking a button [here].

Now, hopefully I can make this a smooth process but I’m not entirely sure what will happen when I move the new content in and bump the old content out, so if things look a little crazy for a while, PLEASE bare with me. I’ll be monitoring my own progress as I go and correcting problems as they occur.

Version 3 of The Writers Round-AboutPlease hold your comments until the process is complete. I’d love your feedback after the update is finished and it would really help me if you let me know of any problems on your end but during the transition you won’t see the full affect and some problems may simply be a part of process.

I’m excited and I hope you are too. Don’t forget about the contest coming up (Tuesday).

Have a great weekend and in a day (or two) you’ll be able to enjoy an all new, stylish Writer’s Round-About.

Update:

It’s getting there. We’re starting to see the new design. I still have a few kinks to work out so please ignore the script error, sidebars and wasted space in comments. These are problems I had fixed in my test version that cropped up again during the transfer. I’m trying to remember how I fixed them the first time (serves me right for not keeping notes) but it shouldn’t take too much longer.

Update:

Fingers Crossed! Ok, I THINK I have everything working. If you have feedback, notice a bug/error/etc. or just want to tell me how great it all looks and how incredible I am leave a comment or send me an email. What do you think?

Thanks, Michele! A four hour, not quite smooth, transition. Now it’s time to cross fingers and hope everything is working. ;-)

I LOVE it, Rebecca! You’ve done a fantabulous job - just like I knew you would! Way to go! ;-)
I don’t notice anything that needs to be fixed, so I think you’re good to go.

Congrats on the beautiful, new look!

    Smiles,
    Michele

Thank you, Michele! I’m glad you love the new look. It’s going to take time to get used to. Even I still feel a little strange when I load up and I’ve been seeing the design (in parts) sporadically for two weeks now. There are always going to be a few kinks after major changes like this but hopefully they’ll be easy to fix.

After Sharon’s comment for example I increased much of the text size. An easy fix. Hopefully other ideas, suggestions, feedback or problems will be as easy to deal with. :-)
