Sorry for the sporadic updates!

I really have no excuse for the poor upkeep of this blog. I’ve intended to get hard to work so many times but a lot has been going on. Sometimes it’s like being buried under a massive pile of old newspapers. Someone pass me a basketball so I can remain fit and a vaccuum cleaner so I can pull myself out of here. (Poor Simpsons Reference; forgive me if you missed the joke completely. I’m terrible at humor.)

Today’s excuse is excruciating agony. Actually, it’s really not that bad. I’m upright, mostly, and only for the moment. I took a very bad fall while figure skating this morning which shook my brains around a bit and has left various parts of me bruised and sore. I’m more tired then functional but I didn’t want to crash to sleep (again) without at least dropping a note to thank YOU for continuing to enjoy my blog.

Some of you may know that I’ve recently guest posted for Blogging Experiment. If you’d like to read up on my posts elsewhere, check those out. Ben’s blog is a wonderful resource. He always shares fantastic ideas and is in the trenches as a startup SEO and freelancer. He’s also a darn good writer for someone who doesn’t seem to consider himself one.

You also might like to check out Melissa Donovan’s blog, Writing Forward, which is packed full of educational posts on a large variety of topics, or follow Michele Tune’s journey down the cyber highway at Writing the Cyber Highway.

I’m behind on a couple of assignments (paid ones) at the moment and I’m also VERY behind on blog posts I’ve been intending to write such as my February Commenters Link Love post, my wrap up for the Absolute Write February Blog Chain, more of my Dog Train Your Writing Skills series, and even a ROAR award post from about a month ago. I promise to work on these as soon as possible.

If any of you would like to guest post on The Writer’s Round-About please feel free to send your posts, questions, or queries to my email address.

    Hi Rebecca,

Good to see you back. I read somewhere (Problogger or Skelliewag) that you don’t have to apologize for being absent. It is your blog, you can do whatever you want with it. You may just want to drop a quick one sentence note in a comment. But, all you really need is to get back into regular posting. Anyway, good luck with your assignments!

I don’t know if it’s something Darren would say so perhaps it was Skellie. I disagree. I think it’s important to acknowledge readers. Treat them as I’d like to be treated. As much as I would LIKE to get back to regular posting I can’t guarentee I will and offering a post of apology in lew of actual content allows readers to know that I’m human and that if they’d like to help out I would really appreciate it.

Writing something directly from my heart, like the post above takes very little effort compared to the detailed posts I usually make. I couldn’t manage a ‘real’ post and felt my readers deserved more than a blank page, again.

Thank you so much for your comments and insight Rudy. It’s good to see you again.

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve hurt yourself. I hope the bruising (& pain) quickly goes.

    Hi Rebecca,

There are bloggers who have developed a community of readers and who somehow expect regular updates. It can be very difficult to post daily especially if you have to earn a living, make a home, and travel at the same time. There are also those who have to deal with other people’s problems as a regular job and it takes a lot out of them physically and mentally.

I subscribe to what you wrote in the comment box in response to a readers comment. As you might know, there is an unwritten courtesy (others have posted it on their sites) such as “You Comment, I Respond”; or “You Comment, I Follow” or both. I normally do both, even if I don’t have it posted on my site.

When some bloggers are so busy or have pressing matters to attend to, they make a post to inform readers of these without having to make an apology.

I have blogger friends from Australia and they count me as one of their regular readers as I count them as mine, although regular does not really mean everyday but at least twice a week.

You can count on me as a regular reader of your site after having dropped my Entrecard on your site a number of times. :-) Your site is one of the few that I found interesting. See you again! :-) Durano, done!

I’ll link you in my blogroll so I won’t miss your site when I make my rounds! :-) –Durano, done!

@ Rebecca: Thank you Rebecca. The head is much better, brains not. ;-) I can’t go blaming the fall for that. Thank you for your concern and your comment. I truly appreciate both.

@ Durano: *smiles* Thank you Durano. I have to admit I feel really guilty about not updating and if anything that just makes the pressure to write even greater. I’m a writer by trade but sometimes I still struggle against these inner demons that send me running as far and fast away from the page as possible. It feels like a little death inside when I’m not writing. I’ve been a little dead for a month now. *sighs* I guess I need the encouragement and courage to push ahead and get over this slump. It will happen, and then my blog will be back and perhaps the posts will be refreshed and empowered.

I still do my rounds with Entrecard and I’ve found a few really great sites thanks to my wanderings and card dropping. I’ve often wondered how many Entrecarders aren’t just a drop and run kind of carder. There are so many interesting blogs around that it’s actually difficult to keep up with them all so I’m grateful for those that don’t update every day.

Alas, it’s time to get the day started here. I’ve got to chase my kids around the house and get them to school before I can come back to the keyboard and try to force myself to work today.

    Thanks for your support.
