Those changing goals are interesting too! I think they're a sign of our personal growth. What we want and what we aim for in life changes to meet our adjusting needs. Thanks for your comment, Melissa!

It's so true. Success is definitely a moving target. I try to stop and recognize the achievements I've made on a regular basis to make sure that I have that sense of accomplishment. I also find that goals are constantly changing. Sometimes you reach a milestone only to realize the next milestone is not quite what you originally envisioned. That sure keeps things interesting!

@ Web-Betty: I think all of us are successful in some parts of our lives. Finding that balance of success across every aspect becomes the true challenge. When I look at my children I see myself as a successful parent as well. :-)

Still, on your path to being a successful blogger you've had past successes as well. Every post you make, every comment you receive, every new reader you acquire, are all milestones of success. You're well on the way.

What's more, is that in the eyes of others, you ARE successful. There are fellow bloggers who already look up to you as their current definition of success.

@ Michele: Thank you so much for the compliment. I agree, to reach those moving targets we have to "go for it"!

@ Katherine: I've learned that it is important to acknowledge what we've achieved or happiness will remain elusive. With my bipolar I've learned to truly rejoice in what I HAVE accomplished, especially on a bad day, because I often feel like I've got nothing done unless I consciously make the effort to appreciate every moment of that day.

I love the advice of thinking about what we've already accomplished. Too often we look towards the future without realizing how far we've already come. Inspiring post!

Rebecca, this is a beautiful and encouraging post. Know how to hit a moving target? Reach out and grab hold of it and hang on for dear life! Make it happen. :-)We have to just go for it.

I believe it is possible to be successful in some aspects of our lives while striving to be successful in others. I feel I am a successful parent--so far. I have 2 amazing, smart, happy, confident boys. I feel successful in my work (I have a job I love and a great employer).

I am still working towards being a successful blogger. And I'm not as successful as I'd like to be in my relationships.

Thanks for the thought-provoking article. You make some great points. :)
