WRA’s New Design Launch Contest!!!
I know you like to win prizes and today we’re talking Amazon Bucks! Lots of them!
To celebrate the launch of our new design I thought it would be fun to also launch our very first contest. Last week, I asked you what you want from a contest, what prizes you’d love and how you wanted to be involved. The response was wonderful and it seems like you hold a heavy preference for Amazon Gift Cards.
So, enough introductions, it’s time for details:
The Prizes!
The Challenge!
It’s not just a free-for-all, after all. This contest is perhaps trickier than some to win. Rather than just leaving a comment to say you’ve been here or picking a random lottery number to be drawn I wanted to get you involved. So, for your chance to win you must write a post on your own blog.
Not just any post however, your post needs to do two things, promote the contest to your readers and review The Writer’s Round-About and its new design. Your blog is unique so of course you will want to approach this task in your own way. Don’t be afraid to offer critique rather than simple praise. Invoke feedback from your readers and spread the wave of this contest so that as many bloggers as possible have an opportunity to win.
The Deadline!
The Rules!
- Every entry:
- Must write a post on their blog that introduces the contest.
- Must invite others to participate in the contest.
- Must mention the contest prizes, rules, and deadline.
- Must include a short review of The Writer’s Round-About.
- Must be a separate and distinct post (not plugged at the end of a regular post).
- Must be unique, original, and at least 200 words long.
- Must include a link to the contest with the contest title.
- Must include a link to The Writer’s Round-About home page.
- Must include a link to rebeccalaffarsmith.com with my name, Rebecca Laffar-Smith.
- Must include link to The Writer’s Round-About RSS feed.
- Must leave a comment on the original contest post sharing a link to your post.
Get Writing!
I know it may sound challenging but that is a part of what makes this so fun. Enjoy the challenge and have some fun with your entry. Your fellow entrants and readers are the ones who will have the chance to judge your entry. Make it entertaining and enlightening for your readers and you may even find some of them become regulars at your own blog. That’s a reward of its own, even if you don’t win the Amazon cash you could win some valuable new members for your blogging community.
I hope you all enjoy this contest. I’m looking forward to the results and will remind myself to StumbleUpon the entries as I check them out. You’ve got just over two weeks to enter and gather support for your entry. Get Writing!
Note: Time Zone Added - Thanks for the nitpick, Laurie!

How exciting, Rebecca! I can’t wait to read all the contest entries.
Hmmm…. I’ll have to get my creative wheel turning and come up with a great post about your fantabulous blog (and new design!). Or, perhaps I’ll just take a stroll beneath the “Idea Waterfall?”
Thanks for coming up with such a fun contest!
Smiles,
Michele
Ooooh, you are very clever!
Awesome . . .great idea, I’m excited!
My entry is up at http://lmashton.com/2008/01/critiquing_a_blog_contest.html , although this form just showed me another error…
I’ve added some additional comments - other things that need improving.
I’m looking forward to your posts, Michele, Melissa, and Laski! I want to get people involved because these Amazon Certificates are burning a hole in my pocket, begging to be spent and books are such a huge temptation.
Laurie, I loved your post. So many brilliant comments and critique. I’ve already started making changes and will continue as time permits to get things in top shape here. Thank you for your feedback and good luck in the contest!
[...] In order to enter, contestants need only help Rebecca promote the contest and post a review of the site and its new design. Rebecca’s strategy is nothing short of brilliant, since she is building visitor loyalty by offering incredibly valuable prizes which suit her niche perfectly. She is also increasing reader respect by hosting a contest that involves more than a random raffle drawing, and she’s providing an incentive for others to promote her blog. Oh, and she’s sure to gain valuable feedback which will help her to fine tune Writer’s Round-About. Nice job, Rebecca! I only wish I’d thought of it myself. Check out Rebecca’s contest details in her post titled WRA’s New Design Launch Contest. [...]
If you’ve entered the contest, don’t forget to double check your entry against the rules! Keep them in mind when you’re writing your own contest entry. Edits can be made up until the deadline.
So far the entries have been fantastic. You are all surpassing my expectations. I’d love to see more entries to create a voting challenge. It is already going to be hard for voters to pick a winner but these prizes really will go to deserving entrants.
Thanks for the support. I’m looking forward to hearing more of your comments and reviews!
I did it!!! And guess what??? I have a new blog design myself. Thanks for the contest Rebecca–I already had a comment and I had just finished posting.

I finally finished my entry, Rebecca. Sorry for the delay.
Cyber Contest: Win Prizes from Amazon!

Thank you for your entries Laski and Michele!
Don’t forget to DOUBLE CHECK THE RULES everyone. So far Michele is the only one who has followed them all. Remember, link to contest, link to blog, link to site, link to RSS feed, mention rules, mention prizes, mention deadline. Everything else so far has been fantastic. Thank you all for taking part and good luck!
Time is running out so get your entries in if you haven’t already and polish up entries if you have because the poll to begin voting will be up soon.
Hope I got it right this time!

What an excellent way to get readers involved in your blog AND get your readers to involve readers in their blog. I’m going to give this a try.
Never know, right?
I forgot to leave my link here, but hey, looks like my blog did it for me!
