Well said! If I could write like this I would be well happy. The more I see articles of such quality as this (which is rare), the more I think there could be a future for the Net. Keep it up, as it were.

@ Susan Kishner: Thank you! I can't take credit for Danny's fantastic review but I truly appreciate your visit.

@ Allen Taylor: Thanks for subscribing Allen! Let me know if there is anything in particular you'd like to read about in future!

@ Arachne Jericho: Wonderful input, Arachne. I've always encouraged my children to believe they can achieve their dreams. There will be challenges along the way but learning to be afraid of change is a great part of why we, as adults, find ourselves conflicted. I feel, as we strive to accomplish new things or we discover it simply isn't so simple to dream things into being we learn that life is hard, life is scary. Fear is one of the biggest reasons adults are set in their ways. They're afraid that doing things differently, or believing other than they believe will alter their current existence to their detriment. Now courage comes from learning that change is always a good thing.

@ Janna Qualman: Isn't it amazing how much we can accomplish be we in our twenties or our thirties and beyond. Did you learn to tango? How about just learning to tango with the goals that inspire you? Thank you for jumping through the hoops to comment. It's always a pleasure to hear from you.

@ Non-Business Book Man: Congratulations in having the courage to go after your dream!

Thanks for the review, using some of the techniques in Ferriss' book I'm shooting for such a dream. I do agree, we tell our children that they can be anything they want, but then the moment they start working towards their dream we often tell them to "get a real job." Well, not me, and so far its working. I'm not down to just four hours yet, but someday soon.

Wow! Timothy's only 30? That makes me feel as though I have much too much to accomplish in the 7 months before turning the big 3-0 myself. Think I can learn both the tango and Chinese kick-boxing in that short time frame? ;)

Rebecca, you have such a warm, fresh voice, and I love reading your posts. This is the first comment I've been able to leave... turns out if I hop over to my husband's computer, I can get through the whole process (my own computer, for some reason, kicks me out of the comment screen if I try on anything other than Blogger...). I wish I'd thought to use his set up sooner.

Have a blessed day!

As Mr. Ferriss brings out in one chapter, “we tell children to dream big, but tell adults to be realistic.” What happens between childhood and adulthood that causes us to lose hope? Whatever it is, it’s ugly, and I don’t like it one bit.

We don't expect children to actually execute upon the dreams; we think it's just nice. Innocence of childhood strikes again. (Never had the privilege, frankly.)

As adults, most of us hate change and things shifting out from under our feet. Doing something radical tends to increase the chance of failure, and most people either can't afford it (families) or do not really want it. In which case no book will convince them otherwise, at least not for long.

Still, for those of us who want to change, books like these are invaluable. Because goodness knows you don't really get this kind of instruction from schools, even if they do tell you to believe in your dreams (which is nice and all, but actually teaching principles on achieving them is another thing).

So... nothing really happens between childhood and adulthood, except that (as we get older) we tend to get more set in our ways.
