		<description>Thanks Heiddi! A lot of the time our word use, as writers, is instinctive. Connotation is something I notice more often when I&#039;m editing non-writer&#039;s writing. I think because we work with words and language so much we have a natural tendency and instinct for the &#039;right&#039; word. Sometimes I&#039;ve had a word and known it&#039;s NOT the &#039;right&#039; word. That&#039;s when thesaurus.com comes to the rescue as I search for the word that has the exact connotation that I want.

Another aspect of connotation and choosing words carefully is when writing technical information. For example, when I write about web design here at Writer&#039;s Round-About, I know many of my readers are unfamiliar with the &#039;jargon&#039; that becomes second nature in the web tech world. It is important to choose words that will be understood and hold the right connotation for these readers.</description>
